Divorce

California is a no-fault divorce state which means that you do not need to provide a reason for wanting a divorce.  California is not a common-law marriage state, which means that no matter how long you lived together, you were not married if you did not get a marriage license and have that marriage ceremony.  Even if you were not married, but just lived together, you may be entitled to more than just child support.  Contact us to talk about a Marvin action if you were not married but lived together a long time.
Divorces can be simple or hard, and sometimes you get to decide.  Sometimes parties will work out most of the details of a divorce themselves, which is usually the best tactic. An attorney in these cases can help the parties draft quick and effective settlement agreements that avoid court and costly fees.

Sometimes, however, one party takes unreasonable positions, hides assets or information, or simply refuses to cooperate.  This is when an experienced, knowledgeable attorney is needed to protect your rights.

And sometimes, there is an emergency when you need to act quickly, get a court order fast, or block a move by the other party.  That is when you need an available, aggressive attorney to jump into action on your behalf.

Divorce laws are complicated no matter what type of case you have, and expert legal advice can provide not only peace of mind, but also results that make a difference far into the future.  We have represented everyone from major celebrities to your next-door neighbor.
